NEW MENUS AT PIAZZA ROMANA – A JOURNEY THROUGH

A culinary journey of discovery in “bella Italia” was the order of the day for the Grand Elysée at the beginning of March. The hotel’s chef de cuisine Peter Sikorra took his team of kitchen staff on a four-day trip to Italy and toured through Florence, Parma and Milan in order to discover the secrets of Italian cuisine and bring the most delectable ideas back to Hamburg. The team visited numerous restaurants and learnt a great deal, including that pasta is, in spite of its popularity, “merely” served as a starter or an entrée in Italy.

They sampled delicious meat dishes, fancy vegetarian courses and low-calorie desserts, and documented and photographed all of their findings.

Upon returning to Hamburg, the team tested their Italian highlights in the Grand Elysée kitchen – and some of these have now made it onto the Piazza Romana menu.

You can now look forward to Italian discoveries such as warm aubergine tartlets with tomato sauce, baked artichoke hearts with pecorino sardo and fillet steak wrapped in Tuscan lardo.
