„First Stay ”

„I will have to return to Hamburg to visit the sights as I became so comfortable in the Grand Elysee that I barely went outside in 3 days and when I did it was only so I wouldn't feel guilty. Let me share with you our ideal 3 days. Arrive at 1pm and ask the lovely staff at reception to mind our bags but we were told we could check in early. This was great as we were free to relax in a lovely Courtyard View room. On balance I don't thing the Courtyard View is worth the slight extra and we would probably have been happy viewing the street outside, but that is a personal preference. We intended to go out but the spa seemed more inviting than the cold so off we went. Super friendly welcome with quality robe and 2 towels! I think there are about 6 different INCLUDED sauna and heat treatments. So that was 4 hours passed at leisure. The rest of the day was at leisure in the Christmas Markets. We had a nice G&T at the Bar late around 11.30pm. Price was a little high at 13euro pp but I suspect it is a doubles bar and I just didn't note this before. Breakfast on morning one: Fantastic. A cheeky glass of Champagne from their Grand Elysee own label. It's very fine. Made to order scrambled eggs, lovely fruit. A HUGE selection of breads, meats and cheeses and all kinds of other things. Best I have ever seen anywhere. Our waitress was not a happy person but we all have bad days. The food quality is superb and you get a linen napkin at breakfast which is essential. Meet and greet at the restaurant door for breakfast is poor/non existent. This sets the tone for the day and I am surprised there is no Maitre d' or Chef de Rang (at least) to welcome guests. This would ensure a professional/friendly start to the morning. Afternoon in the Spa. See above. Great. Might have had a nice cold beer to help counteract the heat of the sauna. There is a pretty comprehensive Food and Drink menu available in the pool bar area and it's fantastic. Afternoon Coffee and a cake in the Boulevard Cafe. Delicious and a lovely atmosphere on the Grand Elysee own internal ............ boulevard. Dinner in the Brasserie Flum. The best meal I have had for many years anywhere. Lobster to start and Boeuf Bourguignon & Goose leg for main. It was simply superb and nowhere near the price I would have normally expected to pay even in an informal restaurant. Our waitress was just brilliant. A quick glass of Champagne (Included in our package stay) at the bar. The staff here are so helpful but there is something missing atmosphere. I'd move the piano and try to integrate it more into the area to improve the feeling of 'late nigh'. I think it would be very popular as at the moment the pianist is singing facing directly down 'The Boulevard'.Bring it in from the cold and make this a destination venue. Breakfast day two. Fantastic. Great waitress full of pleasant cheer. Again. Nobody to welcome on the door so you just wander in. 2 Further visits to the Boulevard Cafe for Coffee and homemade cake. They have a Section Patisserie in this hotel that is second to none. I could have just eaten home-made cake all day for weeks. Check-out. We had a late flight and I enquired about a late check out. Normally you expect 'Certainly 1pm' . I was so happy to be told that we could stay 'till 3pm. This was fantastic and was done so willingly where most places make it like the worst request in the world. This allowed us time for yet 1 more cake and coffee in the Boulevard Cafe. Concierge & door need to acknowledge all guests as they enter the hotel. Nobody really every said hello as you entered which surprised me. If I said hello they did. Love this hotel and will come back in the summer when I might be able to leave and see more of Hamburg. .I tend to look at Hotels.com then book direct with the Hotel I select..I feel that a quality in-room TCMF would be appropriate now that there are capsule machines available that would give a quality product. I certainly would not expect to find instant sachets in a 5* hotel like the Grand Elysee. These are becoming more common in hotels and it is much more convenient to use than having to ring room service if you simply need a coffee or tea or a cup of hot water (which I suspect few but the very pampered would do). We found the pillows too soft but ordered from the Pillow menu, a firm pillow. This was less firm that the pillows in the room so we gave up at that point. These are just small things. The room was beautifully presented with a lovely ambience. I love the feeling of quiet quality.”

„The most important element of our stay at this delightful hotel was the staff and their attention to each person's requirements. Nothing was too much trouble with each area of the hotel making a positive enhancing experience. Thank you for an outstanding holiday from one who has travelled to many places and hotels. .none”

„Not secured!!.I had two drinks in this place. 1: Moscow Mule. It took about 15 minutes to get the drinks, and one important ingredients was missing. Ginger ale..... It was made with sprite I think... I tried to get in touch with the waiter but it was next to impossible... 2: Irish coffee: Was very swiftly delivered- but the cream on top was made from a co2 canister... Not good!! The cream should be “slurry “ and not stiff like snow.... Otherwise- rooms, staff, cleanness- perfect!!”

„Improve the experience for children”

„I have stayed at the Grand Elysee many times and will of course be back again soon.This time I brought ny Family including two children of 11 and 14. I suggest that you - at least in one restaurant - add some dishes that have an appeal to children and teenagers (pasta-dishes, pizza and burgers). I myself really like your menus, but children and teenagers want something the have seen and tasted before - so this time we had to go somewhere else for dinner..I suggest that you increase the number of devices that guests are allowed to connect. Many would want to connect 3 or more devices pr. person in each room.”

„A updated possibility to check out on a app or tv would be great. Also we have been a guest for many many years, but there have never been some kind of recognition of this fact, a loyalty program would be nice..We was not able to log on every day ”

„Very nice hotel with many offers, well located and nice rooms. It would have been nice if you were able to make tea and coffee in the room. Our kids missed pancakes for breakfast. .Many German channels, only 2 English. You've guest from all over the world, many don't speak German. We were told that there was pay per view. ”

„You know what you get when staying at the Elysse. They deliver on your expectations. Its so simple and so difficult..Only two handling both check in and out at 08.00. Doing info to new arrivals with 7 in a line is not smart.Speed.Speed.Menue revitalization.Maybe develope a new menue”
