Experiencing art at the Grand Elysée Hamburg
At the Elysée gallery, contemporary paintings meet Hanseatic hospitality – it is an inspiring place of encounters with like-minded people.
Since 1985, the Elysée gallery at the Grand Elysée Hamburg has shown changing exhibitions of representational artworks by artists who live and work in the north of Germany. In these rooms, traditional are juxtaposed with contemporary positions – a selection of the more than 1,250 works in the Block collection turns the spaces themselves into artworks. Guests as well as art lovers are more than welcome to explore its programme with curiosity and all of their senses.

The artists
Meike Lipp and Sibylle Bross
Meike Lipp and Sibylle Bross share a long-standing friendship. Not only does their bold use of color—powerful, dynamic, yet playful—define their work, but their sense of adventure also takes them to a variety of places, inspiring unconventional motifs. Sometimes they are out in the open, canvas under their arm; other times you might find them in the midst of a lively party at the Grand Elysée, as they have also been guests at our hotel. Look forward to an exhibition full of vibrant life.

Nature, vastness, and water: for centuries, artists have found countless sources of inspiration in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The region looks back on a rich artistic history, while its contemporary and vibrant art scene is equally compelling. We set out to explore this landscape and present eight artists from the region who engage with the subject of landscape in a variety of ways.
