Early years education with a view to the future – right inside the Grand Elysée Hamburg

Childcare for children aged 10 months and over

The Elysée kindergarten is a place where children can find their feet, explore the world with curiosity and are permitted to grow at their own speed. It opened in 1993 in a magnificent period villa that is fully integrated into the Grand Elysée Hamburg – the kindergarten was extensively refurbished and extended in 2007. In this environment, which combines nature with creativity and outdoor exercise, we lovingly care for children from the age of ten months until they start school on the basis of clear pedagogical principles. The result is a kindergarten with history that makes children stronger and dependably relieves families.

We do not currently have any more places. You are welcome to enter your child on our waiting list via our registration form, which is available from the Elysée kindergarten or can be downloaded right here.

Space, set routines and loving care – every day

At the Elysée kindergarten, children experience a day that combines variety with security and set routines. Spacious rooms, fixed groups with familiar caregivers and a child appropriate outdoor area create a secure setting for exploring the world. The daily kindergarten routines are completed by balanced meals from the hotel kitchen: fresh, healthy and child appropriate.

Groups & staff

The children grow up in three groups to which the children are allocated according to their respective age, supported by experienced and qualified childcare practitioners. A dedicated team headed by our principal Marina Hecklau ensures that the children receive reliable and loving care.

Meals

All meals, from breakfast to dinner, are freshly prepared in the hotel kitchen. A balanced diet with fruit, salads and child appropriate dishes defines the day's rhythm.

Discover the world in a playful way

We accompany children through their day with time, attention and empathy. An atmosphere of trust and security invites them to discover the world through play.

Pedagogical focal points

Our work focuses on reliable relationships, genuine encounters and the individual development of each child. We carefully guide children at their own pace and create an environment in which they feel safe, seen and taken seriously.

We see bonding as the foundation for education. With us, children are allowed to explore with curiosity, contribute their own ideas and have a say. For us, mistakes and detours are a natural part of the learning process.

Our work is based on the Hamburg educational recommendations. However, we do not see education as ‘teaching’, but as an active process of acquisition: children engage with their environment on their own initiative. They discover, experiment, ask questions and develop their skills step by step.

Our task is to provide stimulating spaces, diverse materials and reliable support. In this way, we strengthen independence, self-confidence and joy in learning – as a solid foundation for further education.

Our educational approach is characterised by respect, appreciation and trust in the abilities of each child. We regularly reflect on our actions and align them with children's rights and current professional standards.

Cooperation and additional services

A trusting relationship with you as parents is a central part of our work. Regular discussions and open communication create transparency and strengthen our joint support for your child.

In addition, we offer early music education with Antonia from ‘Elbtöne’ and a weekly English course with Tanja based on the Helen Doron concept.
